Illinois

Illinois requires certification as well as an extra step for Food Service Sanitation Managers. Please read carefully.

State Requirements: Food Safety Manager on duty at all times and Food Handlers must take an ANSI/ASTM 2659 approved course. After completing an ANSI-accredited certification, the State of Illinois requires one more step to obtain a Food Service Sanitation Manager Certificate. Food Protection Manager: Required.

Exceptions: None.

Manager Training Hours: Effective July 1, 2014, 8 hours of training is required. All training must be approved by the Illinois Department of Health.

Food Manager Certification and Food Handler Certificate Renewal: Food Manager every 5 years; Food Handler every 3 years.
